Spoken, The AI Audiobook Company™, is a platform created by storytellers, for storytellers. We charge by the word because that’s how authors work. (And then, we give you some wiggle room to make them perfect.)
You don’t need a monthly subscription to create an audio project on Spoken — UNLESS YOU WANT ONE. (Yep, it’s your choice.) You can pay only for the project you are narrating, with full access to the Spoken Studio, unlimited voice casting, re-narration tools, free publishing-ready downloads and more. You can also choose a subscription and hop seamlessly into the studio and create more frequently.
Pay Per Project Pricing - $10 for every 5,000 words

Our pay-per-project pricing allows you to create high-quality audiobooks and projects only when you need us. We realize that sometimes you just need to get the job done and focus on other writer priorities. We also realize that you might just want to test this whole AI audiobook narration process out. Paying per project allows you the flexibility to pop in and out of the studio, get what you need and be on your way — until the next time.
We’ve designed a pricing model that doesn’t nickel-and-dime you with re-narration costs. In fact, we’re tossing in free “edit credits” to help you in the proofing stage and to correct any system hiccups – or possible AI hallucinations. While the tech is improving rapidly, it’s not flawless yet – so we’re building in a generous cushion to help you make your audiobook perfect.
You can budget $10 for every 5,000 words in your project. (Word count for projects is rounded up to the nearest 5,000.) Additionally, giving edit credits to allow you to edit the passages of your project that might need some extra attention or a change in voice selection. That’s not all! Here’s what you get:
Unlimited voices (yep, use as many different voices as you want at no extra charge)
Custom voices designed with prompts generated by Spoken’s unique system analysis — or ones that you hand pick with prompts of your own. They can be all be saved for future use, including your personal voice clone only you can use. These voices can be re-used across your projects (great for sequels or connected stories).
Full access to the Spoken Studio to perfect your project — includes all the bells and whistles that enhance the performance and give you control over speed, padding, volume, emotions, etc.
The ability to download your project for free, enabling you to take it and monetize it on the platforms of your choosing
Audio mastering, so your audiobook meets high-quality streaming standards required by industry partners
Free streaming on Spoken — you can opt to stream your project on Spoken and give your listeners free access or gain more exposure to new readers

(We know there’s a love letter, poem or short story in a shoe box under your bed, just begging to be narrated.)

Ways for using Spoken to enhance your revenue stream are endless, so a subscription is a great choice when the words are flowing and the ideas are forming.
So here’s how you can budget for your next project …
You can calculate your pay-by-project investment by rounding your word count up to the nearest increment of 5,000. Then, just multiply that by $10 to get your cost. For example, a 46,000-word novel would be assigned a narration allowance of 50,000 words and valued at $100. (Subscribers would get that for $50.) Once you’ve paid during the “Make Spoken” stage within the studio, you’ll see a running total of your narration allowance and free edit credits. (Yep, we invite you to proof and edit for free at a reasonable threshold, and you can purchase more if you need them.) You’ll discover a playground of audio tools that will allow you to perfect your project as you proof it.
So, for $100 (or $50 if you’re a subscriber) invested in a 46,000-word novel, you’ll achieve high-quality narration cast with as many AI voices as you want and a downloadable project you can take with you and share with the world. Seriously. What used to cost thousands now costs you $100! We think that’s pretty amazing. We hope you do too.
